JOB SUMMARY:

The Center for Surgical Innovation (CSI) at the University of Colorado is a multidisciplinary surgical training center dedicated to promoting educational courses and development of leading-edge surgical techniques and technologies.
This position will assist the Lab Manager with coordinating the individual trainings, which could consist of anywhere from 5-200 people on any given day, to accommodate the clients’ schedules. The lab coordinator contributes to the overall efficiency of the laboratory in a cost-effective manner by performing a variety of tasks; for instance: assisting in the setup of the lab for trainings, helping in running individual bioskills events, maintaining and organizing the lab facility. This position will work side by side with the other lab coordinator and when needed will coordinate the work of the lab support staff.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or related field

COMPETENCIES: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Proficient knowledge of basic laboratory techniques including safety procedures and techniques
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution
  • Outstanding customer service skills
  • Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology medical terminology
  • Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information
  • Ability to work with cadavers and live animal models.
  • Ability to multitask is fundamental.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
