Description

The EMG (Electromyography) HW Platforms Team at Meta Reality Labs is seeking a Lab Manager, you will be responsible for our EMG Labs and FA (Failure Analysis) & Sustaining Team. This includes leading the installation, configuration, troubleshooting and maintenance of all lab infrastructure. You will closely collaborate with other infrastructure teams to ensure high availability of tools while maintaining compliance with associated codes. You will support research, NTI and new product development by supporting characterization, failure analysis and testing to deliver best-in-class AR/VR products. You will collaborate across a broad set of teams from research to facilities to solve issues.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science related field (materials, mechanical, electrical) or equivalent practical experience
  • 5+ years of experience in test lab environment
  • 3+ years of experience working in technology environment supporting multiple projects
  • Experience with lab purchase order process from quotation, purchase, payment, to delivery and vendor management
  • Experience developing and performing verification and characterization testing including (but not limited to) mechanical, shock, vibration, environmental, and electrical
  • Familiar in operational methodologies including capacity management, scheduling, Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility and Lean Manufacturing
  • Experience executing tasks to meet deadlines

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with establishing workflows within a lab space layout
  • Experience setting up and running multiple labs in industries such as consumer electronics, automotive, aerospace, or defense
  • Experience in testing of prototypes, FA and characterization of early product concepts
  • Proficient in LabVIEW programming (and/or other automation tools)
  • Experience collaborating with cross functional teams to achieve shared goals
Responsibilities
  • Plan and execute lab projects including lab expansion, system installation, equipment planning, procurement, setup, inventory, maintenance, calibration, software updates, license renewal, lab network, security, and IT interface
  • Lead the Electromyography Platform Failure Analysis and Sustainability team to close issues and understand root cause
  • Coordinate preventative maintenance with Equipment Engineering across equipment and auxiliary tools including use of databases
  • Responsible for maintaining laboratory stock and budgets (substrates, chemical, and consumables)
  • Establish workflow management system for work-in-progress optimization
  • Drive lab space, safety, regulatory, and security processes compliance, work with cross-functional teams to deploy standard laboratory environments in a timely manner
  • Work with cross-functional engineering managers and collaborate across multiple engineering disciplines to deliver high quality lab working environments
  • Support development of an agile workforce to manage key aspects of operational activities
  • Support training as needed for critical tooling and procedural processes
  • Control access to the lab as needed by maintaining an active roster of users and granting or recalling permissions as necessary
  • Manage and balance workloads of the lab technicians and Failure Analysis (FA) engineers
  • Operate lab equipment as needed to drive task completion
