Hiring Unit:
Department of Biology (Professor Irene Gregory-Eaves)

Position Summary:

• Assists with the environmental DNA sample preparation in water, and sediment samples.
• Maintenance and inventory of field equipment.
• Organizes and regularly disposes of chemical and biological waste.
• Assists with cleaning glassware and field equipment.
• Maintains an organized lab space.

Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities

• Comfortable handling chemicals.
• Organized .
• Ability to set and meet realistic deadlines .
• Works independently and makes own schedule.
• Good work ethic and takes initiative.
• Must be eligible for the WORK STUDY PROGRAM, McGill University.

Education/Experience:

• Enrolled as a student, an asset.
• Lab experience (lab-based courses, previous work experience).
• Interest or background in environmental sciences / freshwater biology / ecology .
• Knowledge of molecular biology techniques and equipment (pipetting, centrifuge, cleaning lab spaces, etc).
• WHMIS training.

Location: This position is located in Montreal, Quebec and the work for this position is expected to be performed in Quebec.
Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level # (4) qualifier on a scale of 0-4.
Minimum Education and Experience:
High School Diploma 1 Year Related Experience
