JOB TITLE: Lab Processing Technician DEPARTMENT: Laboratory FULL TIME/PRN: Full Time - Mostly evenings 3p-11p, some night shifts 11p-7a -- Must be able to work every other weekend! JOB SUMMARY The Lab Processing Technician plays a critical role in the laboratory environment by ensuring that biological specimens are accurately received, logged, and prepared for analysis. This position supports diagnostic accuracy and patient care by maintaining specimen integrity, traceability, and adherence to safety and quality standards in a fast-paced laboratory setting. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or equivalent; Basic knowledge of laboratory safety and specimen handling; Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain accurate records; Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; Authorization to work in the United States. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Previous experience in a clinical laboratory or specimen processing role; Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician or Medical Laboratory Assistant; Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS); Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality standards; Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends or shifts if required. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Receive and verify incoming specimens with proper labeling and documentation; Sort, categorize, and prepare specimens according to protocols; Maintain accurate processing records in laboratory systems; Adhere to safety and infection control procedures; Coordinate with laboratory staff to prioritize specimens; Perform routine maintenance and quality checks on processing equipment; Report discrepancies, damaged specimens, or issues promptly. SKILLS & COMPETENCIES Strong organizational and communication skills; High attention to detail; Ability to operate specimen processing equipment; Proficiency with laboratory information systems; Knowledge of safety and infection control protocols; Effective problem-solving skills.
