OVERVIEW

Leads, plans, develops, implements and evaluates performance improvement, patient safety and regulatory activities to support Pediatric Specialists of Virginia’s mission, strategic initiatives and operational priorities. Abstracts, analyzes, interprets and presents data to identify opportunities and support project goals. Effectively uses performance improvement tools and techniques to achieve desired outcomes. Serves as an educational resource on quality, patient safety and regulatory issues. Tracks and monitors compliance.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Effectively lead teams to improve processes or cultures linked to system and operating unit priorities and goals.
  • Guide key stakeholders to identify, analyze and resolve complex quality, patient safety and regulatory compliance issues.
  • Lead and/or participate on committees and task forces supporting quality and safety goals. Identify areas requiring improvement and facilitate the development of action plans.
  • Abstract and analyze data using available data systems, applications and medical records. Maintain proficiency with appropriate data systems and applications.
  • Validate completeness and accuracy of data. Identify potential concerns. Present data and information in a way that is understandable, identify trends and patterns, and drive improvement.
  • Research and recommend appropriate benchmarks and best practices. Identify outlier cases and facilitate review process.
  • Guides individuals and teams to identify, analyze and understand sources and reasons for variation in current processes.
  • Identify appropriate benchmarks and best practices.
  • Demonstrate ability to improve current lab practices and to learn new skills, procedures and processes. Perform investigation of assay problems.
  • Help manage the CAP proficiency testings and keep compliance with CLIAA and CAP. Conduct monthly reviews of QCs for hematology and chemistry.
  • Conduct Monthly sign-offs of all Laboratory QCs.
  • Responsible for troubleshooting of instrumentation.
  • Create and implement SOPs and laboratory management plans. Implement guidelines for validation of instrumentation and assays. Involvement of pre-inspections and pro-inspection corrections and follow-up.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • Five years of relevant experience in performance improvement, safety and quality, and implementation of regulatory/accreditation requirements.
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.
  • Knowledge and experience in PI concepts, tools, and root cause analysis, facilitation of work groups.
  • Certification in formal process analysis and CPQH. Performance improvement experience. If not certified, must obtain PI/Lean certification within 2 years of hire.
  • All employees must pass an employment TB, drug and physical exam.

QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED

  • Prior experience in healthcare, preferable in acute care settings.
