Old Dominion University Research Foundation seeks a Laboratory Technician to assist the team in performing molecular assays (e.g. Western Blotting, RT-PCR, ELISA), maintain laboratory equipment, and helps to ensure a safe and compliant working environment.
The laboratory technician will process samples, run tests, analyze data, and document results. They may assist with animal work (mice) but primarily perform a different set of molecular assays. Additionally, they may assist with research projects, train new staff, and collaborate with other lab personnel. Candidates with a background in lab research and molecular analysis will be prioritized.
Candidate must have a bachelor’s level degree in Biomedical Sciences or a related field and 5years of laboratory analytical and molecular assays.

Job Responsibilities:
Education and/or training: Experience in Biomedical Sciences, Biology, or a related discipline.

Level and type of experience:

  • Demonstrated ability carry out independent biomedical research.
  • Proficiency in relevant laboratory techniques and research methodologies.

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Good problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
  • Strong teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with researchers.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Candidate must have 5 years of laboratory analytical and molecular assays experience.
