• GC testing/laboratory work is preferable but not essential

A QUICK LOOK AT THE ROLE.

The position of the Laboratory Technician Primarily supports the Lab Manager and Vac Operator of the Biffa Polymers facility, to work as part of a team to ensure HDPE (food grade) meets specification to be dispatched to customers.

YOUR CORE RESPONSIBILITIES.

• Perform QC testing of products using analytical methods such as Headspace and on-column Gas Chromatography, GC-MS, FTIR, Colorimetric analysis, density measurement, Melt Flow Index, and Electronic Nose analysis.
• Maintain and troubleshoot plant machinery and laboratory equipment to ensure optimal performance.
• Collect, organise, and record QC data for Certificates of Analysis (C of A) and archiving purposes.
• Conduct testing of all materials in accordance with established procedures and standards.
• Monitor and maintain laboratory consumables to ensure availability for testing.
• Review and approve data for HDPE food-grade analyses to ensure compliance with specifications.
• Oversee the upkeep of the laboratory computer system and monitoring of the GC gas database.
• Ensure laboratory safety by adhering to COSHH regulations, conducting calibrations on lab equipment, and performing laboratory/vacurema hygiene audits.
