Description We are looking for a Labratory Technician to work in our Community Health Center in Southeastern Utah. Our clinic is a dynamic place to work, practice, and grow. We have 4 primary care health centers and deliver integrated services including behavioral health, Pharmacy, Dental, specialty referrals, chronic disease management, health education, and much, much more. UNHS will be hiring 1 Full-time position. Full-Time position Benefits include health insurance, life insurance, retirement plan, dental insurance, Vacation leave, PTO hours, holiday pay, wellness benefits, short term and long term disability Location: Blanding, Utah Critical Tasks: Ability to work and communicate with all staff associated with the laboratory this includes: Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Nursing staff, and also other reference laboratory staff to ensure that all patient lab work is received and results are communicated in an effective manner. Obtains lab specimens as according to UNHS protocol ensuring that the correct samples and quantity are collected. All while ensuring that proper PPE and asepsis are used. Conducts quantitative and qualitative chemical analysis of body fluids such as blood and urine under the supervision of UNHS medical technologist. This also includes but is not limited to performing daily quality control and cleaning guidelines to ensure that equipment is functioning properly and effectively. Complete appropriate routing, handling, processing, and documenting of various lab specimens to ensure that all lab requests completed accurately and in a timely manner. Performs proficiency testing as required to maintain COLA/CLIA Licensure. Key Performance Indicators: Work with all providers, nurses, and fellow lab staff in an effective and courteous manner. Obtain lab specimens as ordered and in the correct container and ensure that these specimens are handled and cared for as needed to ensure that the results that are received are correct and accurate. Complete all quality control items within the UNHS lab to ensure that all lab equipment is functioning properly. This is to ensure that lab equipment results are accurate. Any items that are not functions properly will be reported to the Lab Lead and all items will be completed and documented as per lab policy and manufactures recommendations. Ensure that all lab specimens are collected and sent as per the reference laboratory requirements. All specimens that are sent from UNHS labs will be sent as per requirements. This includes but is not limited to frozen, light sensitivity precautions, and refrigerated. Complete all assigned proficiency and competencies in a timely manner. Any items not functioning should be reported to the Lab Lead. Metrics: Assessment of over all work and communication with all UNHS staff will completed on an ongoing basis. Any reports of work or communication errors will be follow up on by the Clinical Manager. All lab specimens collected or received at reference laboratories are monitored to ensure that they are received in correctly any errors will be reports by fellow staff and reference laboratory personnel. All testing results are linked back into UNHS EMR (Athena) and lab interface systems (Harvest and Copia) these results will be reviewed monthly by UNHS lab director to ensure compliance. Review of lab orders, results, and requisitions will be performed on an ongoing basis to ensure proper completion. Proficiency test results that are abnormal will be reviewed by UNHS Laboratory Director/Technical Consultant and appropriate actions will be taken. Requirements High school diploma required; Preferred Associate Degree from an accredited college or university with a degree in Medical Lab Technology Preferred two years’ experience as a lab technician. Knowledge of Electronic Medical Records and Lab Interface systems is a must. License/Certification: Must possess a valid driver’s license. Must successfully pass a criminal background check. Must obtain and maintain First Aid/CRP certification Must receive annual inoculation of flu vaccine. Must receive or have received all CDC recommended vaccines for healthcare workers. As a Tribal Organization the Utah Navajo Health System, Inc. (UNHS) treats patients with high risk and underlying chronic medical conditions. Below is a list of immunizations/vaccinations required to be employed or to continue employment with UNHS. Complete Hepatitis B vaccine series (3 doses), documented proof of titers indicating immunity, or a declination that may be signed upon arrival. Proof of up-to-date PPD skin testing, if previously negative (OR) Proof of positive PPD skin test with the most recent chest x-ray and treatment history. Tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (Tdap). Varicella titers, history of varicella or varicella immunization series. Influenza vaccine for the current year. COVID-19 vaccine Any other vaccinations as requested.
