Here’s what you’ll do:

Lab Technician II is an intermediate level position. Working under minimal supervision where operations and sequences are specified by written and verbal instructions and established practices, the Lab Technician II will perform routine and semi-routine production duties associated with the lens manufacturing processes, collect data in the form of KPI and support problem solving.

  • Use of personal protective equipment where required.
  • Must follow safety guidelines with the ability to identify and understand safety items.
  • Create and maintain an organized working environment following 5S guidelines.
  • Must possess a knowledge of, and the ability to perform a variety of tasks with in-depth knowledge of the assigned department, with a working knowledge of the whole lab. Advanced knowledge and understanding of processes of two or more departments. Able to perform the duties at rate for at least 90% of the positions within own department.
  • This position will have a variety of tasks within the department with minimal supervision. Must have intermediate optical knowledge, and able to perform all duties of a Lab Tech I position.
  • Ability to troubleshoot work:
  • Identify and correct when work instructions are not being followed.
  • Ensure correct parameters are being collected and support corrective action when out of spec conditions arise.
  • Knowledge of common faults and knowledge on how to correct.
  • Must possess a basic understanding of lab operating systems and software programs.
  • Performs routine and semi-routine production duties associated with various aspects of lens production paying close attention to quality, quantity and efficiency.
  • Qualifies and inspect product to ensure compliance with CZV specifications and standards.
  • Comply with all safety regulations as well as maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Apply common fixes to common problems to improve quality and avoid defects.
  • Assist on calibrating machinery within the assigned work area.
  • Refer to the Job Matrix for further departmental specifics
  • Comply with all safety regulations as well as maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Maintain appropriate written and/or computer documentation.
  • Generally assigned certain tasks within a specified department but has knowledge to perform majority of the tasks within a specified department.
  • Cross training in other departments.
  • Additional tasks as needed.

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Participate in meetings to enhance departmental communication and efficiency.
  • May be assigned to different workstations or product lines as production needs require.
  • May train peers.
