KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • A background in materials science, engineering, chemistry, or a related field is desirable but not essential.
  • Previous laboratory or production experience in a similar environment is advantageous.
  • Comfortable working with cementitious materials, aggregates, and chemical admixtures.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow health & safety protocols.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Hands-on approach with a willingness to learn and develop within a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities

ABOUT THIS ROLE AND THE IMPACT YOU WILL HAVE:

We are looking for a hands-on Lab Technician to join our dynamic team in Middlesbrough. This is a great opportunity for someone with a passion for materials science, laboratory work, and process optimisation.
In this role, you will be responsible for a range of laboratory and quality control tasks, including mixing ready-mix concrete and mortars, weighing aggregates, cement, and water.
Your contribution will be essential in maintaining high-quality production and upholding safety and quality standards while playing a key role in accelerating our mission to decarbonize the cement industry and significantly reduce global emissions.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

  • Mixing ready-mix concrete and mortars according to precise formulations.
  • Weighing and measuring raw materials including aggregates, cement, and water.
  • Work closely with experts from various departments to foster knowledge-sharing and teamwork as we work toward a common goal.
  • Performing setting time assessments, bulk density measurements, and PSD tests as needed.
  • Carrying out moisture content analysis and compressive strength testing.
  • Demoulding and cleaning moulds to maintain high-quality standards.
  • Assisting with milling, cleaning, and preparing materials for further processing.
  • Ensuring laboratory equipment is maintained and workspaces remain clean.
  • Following health and safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
