LAB TECHNICIAN

Location: Baker Street, London
Contract Type: 12-Month Fixed Term (3-Month Probation)
Salary: £24,000 – £28,000 per annum

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are urgently seeking an lab technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be a vital part of our laboratory operations, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and laboratory excellence.

REQUIREMENTS

  • BSc/MSc in Biomedical Science (Essential).
  • Minimum of 5 years’ post-graduate experience in a medical laboratory/pathology setting (Essential).
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with key laboratory equipment.
  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to work independently.
  • Outstanding communication and customer service skills.
  • Must be fluent in English.

Responsibilities
  • Perform analysis of blood, haematological, and biochemical samples.
  • Validate, interpret, and authorise laboratory results.
  • Monitor and maintain quality control procedures and documentation.
  • Perform daily maintenance and troubleshooting on laboratory equipment (e.g., haematology analysers, biochemistry analysers, immunochemistry analysers, microscopes, PCR equipment).
  • Prepare and process patient samples, ensuring proper sample integrity and quality standards.
  • Manage stock levels and liaise with senior staff regarding supply requirements.
  • Contribute to updating standard operating procedures and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate actively in staff training, supervision, and professional development.
  • Handle urgent communications of critical results to clinical staff.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and laboratory best practices.
  • Collaborate closely with the team to deliver fast, reliable, and quality diagnostic services.
