Job Title: Lab Technician
Reports To: Lab Manager
Location: 3701 Clarkson Street, Englewood
Status: Full Time – 100% FTE
Compensation: $22.00 - $25.00 DOE & Education


POSITION SUMMARY:

MedNOW is looking for a responsible, experienced individual to join our laboratory team as a Laboratory Technician. Under general supervision, the technician is responsible for ensuring accuracy and reliability for testing in the areas of microbiology and urine toxicology. The applicant must have excellent communication, interpersonal skills and organizational skills, as well as a strong independent work ethic. Knowledge and experience in performance of CLIA waived, moderate, and high-complexity laboratory procedures is strongly recommended. The ideal candidate will also have a familiarity with HPLC/MS operation and maintenance.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory, chemical, physical or biological OR associate degree in chemical, physical or biological science or medical laboratory or equivalent education and training
  • Single and multi-channel pipetting skills
  • Proficient computer operation skills
  • Ability to lift/move heavy objects up to 50 lbs when necessary
  • Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment.
  • Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as high temperatures, fumes, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Responsibilities
  • Performs complex analytical testing in the areas of waived, moderate, and high complexity testing independently in the following work areas: Parasitology, Virology & Toxicology
  • Follows Standard Operation Procedures (SOP) to accurately and efficiently perform laboratory testing
  • Entering data into patient records and laboratory information systems.
  • Ensuring that laboratory equipment is properly maintained and calibrated and addressing any malfunctions or issues promptly
  • Manage laboratory inventory and maintain quality assurance/quality control programs
  • Demonstrate daily professional conduct and interpersonal communication skills with laboratory personnel, healthcare professionals, and administrative staff
  • Participating in staff training and educational opportunities
  • Following strict guidelines from organizations like CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments) to maintain compliance and ensure the integrity of the testing process.
