Description

Pacific Rim Laboratories is an ultra-trace organic laboratory specializing in the analysis of dioxins, PCBs and other persistent organic pollutants by high resolution mass spectrometry. We are looking for dynamic and energetic individuals to join our growing company.
Position: Lab Technician
Reports to: Lab Manager
Education Required: Bsc. in chemistry or other science related field. Must have completed 200 level Organic Chemistry.

Job Description & Responsibilities:
- Perform sample preparation as documented in analytical methods and SOPs.
- Assist in the extraction and clean-up of environmental samples, including soil, water, biota, ambient air and stack gases for dioxins and furans (PCDD/F), congener specific PCBs, brominated compounds (PBDEs), polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH), tributyltin (TBT) and per/polyfluorinated compounds (PFAS).
- Preparation of lab reagents, glassware cleaning, liquid-liquid extractions, soxhlet extractions, and column chromatography.
- Prepare reagents and standards as required.
Requirements:
- Enthusiasm for lab work is a must.
- Quantitative chemistry skills as it applies to the test method
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment under tight deadlines
- Effective time management
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in the test method for analysis performed
- Knowledge of laboratory safety practices
- Attention to detail, good lab notes
