DEPARTMENT/UNIT SUMMARY
The Labor and Delivery Unit offers obstetrics and gynecology care, as well as pediatrics, breast health and educational classes for new and expecting mothers. The L&D unit features two HOPE Suite rooms geared toward natural births and include a laboring tub, Bluetooth monitoring system, birthing balls, and birthing swing.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
A minimum of 5 years’ work experience in Labor and Delivery is required. Thorough understanding of OR processes and L&D protocol. Strong Leader with good communication skills. Ability to manage 24/7 coverage and anticipate and manage staffing gaps. Requires considerable judgment to work independently toward general results, modifying or adapting best practices to meet different conditions, making decisions based on precedent and hospital policies. Requires significant judgment and initiative in dealing with complex factors that are not easily evaluated.

This position assumes the leadership role of care within Labor and Delivery. This position may require working under stressful conditions and irregular hours. Oversees the day-to-day operations of the patient care in the Labor and Delivery unit, to include accountability for quality patient care, nursing staff performance and evaluation, and staff development. families. Promotes collaborative practice with other departments, physicians, and schools of nursing, and exhibits the ability to work with others, to find solutions to difficult technical or administrative.

Graduate of accredited school of nursing with a current RN license that allows to practice in the state of Alabama. BSN is required or a commitment to obtain.
