The People Services Manager- Labor Relations will align Labor Relations and HR strategy with operational activities to support the delivery of business goals. The position will work with field leadership to address and mitigate risks with low teammate engagement and to analyze the business need as it relates to talent, training, compensation, HR policy and changes in legislation. As such, the successful candidate will have experience working in labor relations and/or experience identifying and responding to teammate engagement opportunities. Balancing time between projects and crisis-response is critical for success in this role.
This position will be based in either California or Denver, CO and will report to the Director of Labor Relations. This role will need to travel to other states to support teammate engagement efforts. Travel will be unpredictable; up to 40% of the time.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of leadership development and labor relations, including relevant laws, legal codes, procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, and agency rules

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Labor/Industrial Relations, Human Resources, or a relevant field required
  • Five (5) or more years of HR experience; three (3) years of which must have been with labor relations strategy and initiatives (NLRB election campaigns, campaign communications, strategy, strike strategy, contingency planning and project management)
  • Three (3) or more years of experience providing formal training and informal coaching to leadership teams on labor relations best practices
  • SHRM Certified Professional (PHR) or Senior Professional (SPHR) preferred
  • Large, multi-site company experience preferred
Responsibilities
  • Partners with our Labor Relations strategy team, operational leaders and external partners to create and sustain positive employee relations programs and best demonstrated practices
  • Leads team of selected leaders for additional training and deployment opportunities to support needs across the country. Ensures tracking of team members and deployment efforts.
  • Project manages labor relations efforts in hot spot markets, including facilitating strategy/debrief calls, assessing risk and coordinating resources needed
  • Acts as trusted advisor, coach and thought partner while influencing leaders
  • Creates, customizes and facilitates labor relations training sessions for teammates and leadership. Identifies the need for manager capability/competency building.
  • Ensures compliance with labor relations legislation and employee relations trends to analyze the impact on current policies, programs and processes
  • Leverages analytics to address teammate retention, engagement and pay concerns.
  • Proactively identifies and takes action on any potential labor relations activity across the Village.
