POSITION SUMMARY

The Labor Relations People Business Partner supports positive relations between management and members of labor unions. They will oversee site level union interactions, lead investigations in support of employee relations and grievance matters, advise managers on employment and labor relations best practices, and support union contract compliance. This role will support the execution of business strategies focused on union contract compliance, organizational effectiveness, workforce planning, manager enablement, and employee engagement. Fluency in Spanish and English is required.

EDUCATION

BA/BS or equivalent experience
PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP preferred but not required

Experience

  • Bilingual – Fluency in Spanish and English required
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Human Resources, Employee Relations and Labor Relations
  • Must have worked in unionized organization with a multi-unit remote workforce
  • Exceptional listening skills and ability to relate to, influence, and coach employees at all levels in the organization
  • Strong technical writing skills and experience responding to grievances
  • Experience working in a centralized ER model
  • Strong communication, presentation and technical writing skills
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate and influence others
  • Comfortable working in a high volume, fast-paced environment
Responsibilities
  • Acts as the primary point of contact for employee relations matters, supporting adherence to collective bargaining agreements and compliance with employment and labor laws.
  • Leads investigations including tracking and recording in the case management system, works with managers to address first level grievances, and supports the Director of Labor Relations in escalated grievances, arbitrations, and other legal matters.
  • Supports the organizations collective bargaining process and monitors implementation of labor agreements.
  • Contributes to functional areas (such as compensation and benefits, recruitment, training, and development) as they pertain to the organizations unionized workforce.
  • Support manager enablement in areas such as managing in a unionized workforce and employee relations.
  • Support the management and implementation of complex HR projects and change initiatives, including implementing new tools and technology that will provide better support to stakeholders.
  • Provides practical advice involving highly sensitive issues including but not limited to performance management consultation, conflict management, interpretation of policies, corrective discipline actions, and identifying coaching and development opportunities.
  • Analyze employee relations trends and provide actionable strategies to address opportunities.
  • Collaborates with COEs and cross-functional partners to achieve an effective high-quality relationship and builds relationships of trust with employees, managers, and cross functional teams that foster partnership.
