JOB SUMMARY

Applies job skills and applicable policies and procedures to complete a wide range of routine and non-routine tasks. Provides input into reports and letters for Project Managers, as appropriate. May have limited interaction with clients.
Technician Specialty Area Definitions:
A = Social Sciences, defined as those responsible for the study and application of the principles of sociology, psychology, anthropology, political science, survey research, and related subjects.
B = Natural Sciences, defined as those responsible for the study of living organisms and inanimate natural objects, including biochemistry, biology, botany, ecology, environmental science, microbiology, physiology, zoology, physics, chemistry, geology, materials and related subjects.
C = Applied Sciences and Engineering, defined as those responsible for performing engineering duties by applying the principles and technology of chemistry, physics, biomechanics, human factors, infrastructure, or related subjects. Includes, but is not limited to, chemical, electrical, mechanical, biomedical, civil, human factors, and industrial engineers.
D = Quality Management, defined as those responsible for monitoring, evaluating and improving quality to ensure consistency and effectiveness of processes and/or systems as well as proper controls while ensuring regulatory compliance.
E = Medical Sciences, defined as those in the fields of Pathology, Histopathology, and Medical Laboratory Science; subsection of Natural Sciences, providing testing and research to treat and diagnose disease.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate degree in related field; 3 years of applicable experience; or an equivalent combination of education and or experience in a related field.
  • May be expected to pursue various certifications or continuing educational units, as needed.
  • Demonstrates the ability to perform assignments that may not be standardized in nature.
  • Exhibits technical knowledge to perform moderately complex assignments.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and understanding behind application by beginning to troubleshoot and interpret results.
  • Conducts specified non-routine analysis of data and prepares data for written reports.
  • Uses established outlines for documenting results for inclusion in technical reports.
Responsibilities
  • Works on assignments that are moderately complex in nature where judgment is required in assessing problems and making recommendations.
  • Provides input to Project Manager on time and staff resources. Trains and guides less experienced staff on specific tasks. Provides input to performance reviews, as requested.
  • Performs non-routine analysis to verify the accuracy, applicability and reasonableness of project work. May assist in identifying ways to control and/or reduce fixed costs without negatively impacting client expectations. May assist in the technical planning and has some discretion when making judgments and completing tasks. Is encouraged to make recommendations such as estimating time requirements for the completion of tasks and/or providing solutions to technical problems.
  • Works under general supervision and instruction of more experienced staff. Reports observations/problems clearly and concisely, recognizing and highlighting specific deviations.
