DESCRIPTION: Metals Laboratory Analyst – Richmond, BC (Full Time)

As a Metals Lab Analyst for CARO Analytical Services’ growing laboratory network, your main responsibilities will include:

  • Perform all required quality control procedures.
  • Ensure that work is conducted in adherence with quality standards.
  • Maintain logs and record as required by quality documents.
  • Follow analytical methods in accordance with SOPs and specific study requirements.
  • Prepare all required reagents, standards, reference materials, etc.
  • Perform sample preparation using documented procedures. - filtration, screening, extraction and digestion.
  • Review and validate generated test data.
  • Carry out all required record-keeping and documentation and assist in sample flow and archiving as well as data archiving.
  • Dispose samples according to local regulations.
  • Operate instrumentation and process analytical data.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and calibrate instrumentation.
  • Assist in developing new and revising existing SOPs and validation schedules.
  • Independently perform analysis of water, soil, tissue, food and cannabis samples using ICPMS/ICPMSMS and/or Mercury Analyzer.
  • Carry out all required data processing (i.e., calculations, data review, data entry, archival, etc.).
  • Assist to restock laboratory consumables/chemicals, and general laboratory clean-up and maintenance (when needed) and complete other administrative duties as directed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • University or College degree/diploma in related discipline.
  • 2+ years of data processing/review is preferred.
  • 1+years of experience in lab experience is preferred.
  • Proficient with standard computer software (MS Office, LIMS, etc.)
  • Must be a self-starter with strong solution-oriented thought process.
  • Ability to recognize and react to changing work demands.
  • Must be capable of managing time effectively and multi-tasking, as necessary.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Problem solving and trouble shooting skills.
  • Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access etc.).
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment.
