Description Metiri is a trusted analytical lab delivering environmental testing, and we're looking for a Laboratory Analyst to join our team! The Laboratory Analyst will be responsible for conducting accurate and timely analyses of environmental samples, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and supporting the company's mission to promote environmental health and sustainability. The ideal candidate for this role will have familiarity with GCMS (Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry) to identify, quantify, and analyze volatile/semi-volatile organic compounds. Requirements Perform analyses on environmental samples, including water, soil, air, and waste. Prepare, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments such as spectrometers, chromatographs, and other analytical equipment. Follow standardized procedures and methodologies to ensure precise and reproducible results. Record, interpret, and report test results in accordance with established protocols and regulatory requirements. Assist in the development and validation of new analytical methods. Maintain detailed and accurate laboratory records, including sample logs, chain of custody, and quality control documentation. Monitor laboratory quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) procedures to ensure adherence to accreditation standards (e.g., ISO 17025, NELAC). Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and participate in preventive maintenance schedules. Collaborate with team members to ensure timely project completion and client satisfaction. Adhere to all safety guidelines, maintaining a clean and organized workspace. Perform all other duties as assigned. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Biology, or a related field. Experience/Qualifications: 1–3 years of experience in an environmental or analytical laboratory setting preferred. License/Certification: Must have a valid driver's license. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Familiarity with standard laboratory techniques, such as gas chromatography (GC), liquid chromatography (LC), and inductively coupled plasma (ICP). Strong understanding of environmental regulations and testing standards. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficiency with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and Microsoft Office Suite. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks. Effective communication and teamwork skills. Work Environment: Laboratory environment with exposure to chemicals and testing equipment. Requires adherence to safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). May involve occasional lifting of heavy equipment or materials (up to 25 lbs).
