University Research Services & Administration Laboratory Animal Technician II, Division of Animal Resources Georgia State University This position provides animal care and maintains routine records according to clearly defined standard operating procedures, federal guidelines and regulations. Continual training is provided, and work is reviewed on a regular basis through observation of procedures and review of records to ensure compliance. Professional development opportunity and mentorship A rapidly growing center within an academic setting Key Position Responsibilities: Animal husbandry of rodents and small animal models Sanitizes caging systems, animal rooms, and support areas using automated and manual equipment Feeds and waters animals Handles and restrains animals according to instructions and protocol Maintains routine record keeping of such items as environmental condition, animal inventory, and daily husbandry activities Position may be responsible for euthanasia, limited anesthesia, physical exams, and administering medication according to veterinary direction, observing and communicating animal health conditions to appropriate personnel. Perform other professional duties assigned or requested Minimum Requirements: High School diploma or GED and two years of related experience. American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) certification is preferred. Preferred Hiring Qualifications: Experience with mice, rats, hamsters, and ferrets Experience working in an ABSL-2 facility
