Our busy laboratory located in Kitsilano is seeking a full-time Lab Assistant to join a small, highly skilled team of technologists. This individual will provide support in our reference method laboratory. The desired candidate is friendly, self-motivated, and has the interpersonal communication skills required to work collaboratively in a laboratory dedicated to accuracy.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum High School graduate; Completion of a university degree and/or relevant technical program in Chemistry, Biology, Laboratory Science or related discipline, and prior experience in a laboratory setting preferred
• Detail-oriented and well-organized with strong time management skills; able to prioritize tasks effectively
• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate in English through verbal and written means
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to take direction and work both independently and collaboratively within a team

• Clean glassware, supplies, and equipment
• Label tubes, vials, and storage materials
• Stock new supplies as they are received
• Monitor and maintain inventory of supplies and samples
• Information verification and data entry
• Assist technologists with maintenance of lab equipment and general lab upkeep
• Follow standard operating procedures and help uphold lab safety
• Shipping and receiving of bio-specimens, as required
• Other miscellaneous support tasks as assigned
