Laboratory assistant for green research and education – full-time or flexible part-time position. Become part of the Department of Green Technology (IGT) at the University of Southern Denmark as a laboratory assistant – and help support research and education within biotechnology and green technology. The position is basically full-time, but we offer flexible working hours and the possibility of part-time employment, so that the job can be adapted to your life situation. You will work with tasks that support research and education of graduate and master engineers within chemical and biotechnology – as well as contribute to laboratory work that ensures daily operations and development. Your work makes a real difference for a sustainable future. The position is available from 01 March 2026 or as soon as possible hereafter. Your work tasks: As a laboratory assistant with us, you will have a varied everyday life with tasks that support both research and education. Among other things, you may: Biological and biotechnological work: Cultivate and handle cell cultures (mammalian and microbiological). Prepare media, reagents and buffers. Work with biological products, including food materials. Process and equipment operation: Operate and monitor fermentation processes. Work with laboratory equipment such as autoclaves, incubators, fermenters and microscopes. Laboratory operations and documentation: Clean and sterilize equipment and work areas. Maintain laboratory records, logbooks and inventory. Ensure compliance with safety protocols and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP). Teaching support: Assist instructors during laboratory exercises. Guide students in practical procedures. Ad hoc tasks: Contribute to various tasks that arise in daily operations. Qualifications. We are looking for a laboratory technician with relevant education. Experience from industry, healthcare or education is an advantage, but not a requirement. You must be able to speak and write English and have good organizational skills. We value candidates who are collaborative, communicate clearly and can find solutions when challenges arise. We emphasize motivation, teamwork and a desire to learn, and we offer training in specialized techniques. - Basic biotechnology techniques. - Sterile techniques for cultivating mammalian cells. - Knowledge of fermentation processes and experience in operating fermenters. - Understanding of food safety regulations and hygiene practices. - Good organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks. - Effective oral and written communication skills (English). - Ability to work both independently and as part of a technical team. - Basic computer skills and experience with data management. - Techniques used in protein and DNA work. - Handling equipment for fermentation - Working with food technology. - Preparation of culture media.
