The tasks:

• Innovation promotion: Conducting fermentation experiments and handling microorganisms professionally for important quality checks.
• Process Development & Pilot Operation: Support in the development and implementation of biosynthesis processes on a laboratory and pilot scale. Active operation of bioreactors up to 1,000 l as well as participation in upstream (USP) and downstream (DSP) processes, including filtration and chromatography.
• Operational Excellence & Hygiene: Ensuring a clean, safe, and well-organized laboratory environment. Performing practical tasks related to the setup, operation, and thorough cleaning of bioreactors and DSP systems while adhering to the highest hygiene standards.
• Resource management: Maintenance and monitoring of the Döhler core collection for ongoing innovation projects.
• Experimental execution & validation: Organization, execution and support in the validation of biosynthesis experiments.
• Quality assurance: Production of starter cultures for the production facilities and consistent adherence to all quality specifications.
• Maintenance and repair of equipment: Ensuring the optimal functionality of laboratory and pilot plants, managing stock levels and procuring raw materials for smooth operations.

The profile:

• Education and production experience: Sound knowledge in the production environment, for example in the food, beverage, brewing, wine or pharmaceutical industries, as well as corresponding
• Vocational training, for example as a brewer/maltster, food technologist, dairy technologist, pharmaceutical technical assistant or BTA/CTA with production experience.
• Laboratory and analytical skills: Practical production experience as well as solid knowledge of laboratory work and the performance of analytical tests to ensure defined quality standards.
• Practical approach: Physical resilience and willingness to perform physically demanding tasks in pilot plant operation. Proactive and meticulous execution of plant setup and cleaning.
• Work style: Responsible, well-organized and precise work style – both in practical activities and in documentation.
• Resilience: Keeping a cool head even in stressful situations and adapting flexibly to changing operational requirements.
• Professional skills: Experience in handling laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and confident use of common MS Office programs is an advantage.
• Languages: Excellent German skills; good English skills ideally present.
