Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. Assists the Director in overseeing day-to-day operations of the laboratory and staff. Assists the Director with quality assurance, developing department policies and procedures, and working with other clinical departments to provide services. Manages workflow and performs the scheduling of staff. Performs Medical Technologist responsibilities, which include accurate examinations and analysis to assist providers in diagnosing and managing diseases. Records accurate test results, enters into patient charts accurately and maintains working knowledge of all phases of laboratory work. Follows the hospital exposure control, bloodborne and airborne pathogen plans. Assists the Director in maintaining the annual operating budget for the Laboratory Department, including productivity and FTE management based on business needs. Assists the Director in adequate coding, documentation and accurate charge capturing for Chargemaster. Assists the Director in maintaining compliance with all applicable laboratory regulations, standards, and safety protocols, including CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments). Assists the Director in managing inventory of laboratory equipment, reagents, and supplies. Coordinate maintenance and calibration of laboratory instruments and equipment to ensure accurate and reliable test results. Follows all HIPAA guidelines and promotes and ensures patient safety. Fulfills mission statement by performing job duties with a high level of customer service while contributing to a positive and professional environment. Special projects and other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities Serves as a point of contact for employees in the Hospital Lab. Responsibilities include training employees on all lab functions; ensuring all lab activities are fully and accurately completed; partnering with Director to plan, assign, direct work, appraise performance, address complaints, and resolve problems. Requirements Education and/or Experience Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or Associate's Degree in Applied Science Medical Laboratory Technician, related sciences field. Two years’ experience in clinical lab setting. Ability to perform moderately complex and highly complex testing accurately. Supervisory experience preferred. Licensure/Certification Medical Technologist (MT) Certification Basic Life Support (CPR) Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Responsibilities
