Description

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Laboratory Equipment Repair Technician will be responsible for diagnosing, servicing, and repairing laboratory equipment, including centrifuges, incubators, shakers, PCR instruments, and other bench-top devices. This role requires technical expertise, strong troubleshooting skills, and a commitment to customer service.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diploma or degree in Electronics, Biomedical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related technical field.
  • 2+ years of experience in equipment repair, preferably within laboratory or medical device industries.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and electronic systems.
  • Ability to read schematics, service manuals, and technical documentation.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy in recordkeeping.
  • Customer service-oriented with excellent communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license (for on-site service calls).

Responsibilities
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair laboratory equipment in-house and on customer sites.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and calibration on a range of laboratory instruments.
  • Document all service activities, including repair logs, maintenance records, and parts usage.
  • Communicate effectively with customers to explain service findings, provide repair estimates, and ensure satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with MBP’s sales and support teams to address technical inquiries and recommend replacement equipment when needed.
  • Maintain inventory of tools, spare parts, and service supplies.
  • Stay current on new technologies, equipment specifications, and manufacturer repair protocols.
