We’re searching for a motivated and enthusiastic Laboratory Intern to join our energy laboratory team in Houston, TX. In this role, you’ll gain hands-on experience supporting departmental operations through project assistance, administrative support, and operational tasks. This internship opportunity provides meaningful exposure to professional workflows while contributing to operational efficiency, quality standards, and client satisfaction. Please note: This is a temporary, 3 month onsite internship following a Monday–Friday schedule from 1 PM to 9 PM CST with on-call weekend shift coverage as required. What You’ll Do Assist with the preparation, organization, and tracking of materials, equipment, documentation, and related resources Support routine operational, administrative, and project-related activities, including data entry, research, coordination, and basic analysis Maintain accurate and timely records using applicable systems and software Ensure proper handling, storage, and documentation of materials and information in accordance with company procedures and safety requirements Perform routine equipment checks and basic maintenance as assigned Clean and maintain glassware, equipment, work areas, and sample coolers to support daily operations and ensure a safe, organized workspace Communicate professionally and effectively with team members and supervisors Perform other duties as assigned Requirements What We’re Looking For High school diploma or equivalent required; must be pursuing a degree in Chemistry, Biology, Industrial Technology, or related field Prior internship, academic research, laboratory, or practical experience preferred but not required Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and general computer applications Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines Effective written and verbal communication skills Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures Ability to learn quickly and work effectively both independently and as part of a team What We Offer Competitive compensation Hands-on professional experience in a collaborative environment Exposure to industry best practices and operational processes Mentorship and development opportunities Work Schedule & Travel Requirements Temporary, 3 month onsite assignment following a Monday–Friday schedule from 1 PM to 9 PM CST On-call weekend availability required as needed to meet client and operational demands Our Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion At SPL, we believe that a diverse team is a strong team.
