Description Shawmut Advanced Materials provides innovations in pliable polymer materials, which include, fibers, textiles, adhesives, films, flexible foams and nonwovens. These innovations are found in a multitude of industries including automotive, medical, and military. Integral to their innovation capability is to maintain a world class laboratory in our technical center for new product prototyping and testing. The laboratory manager will be integral to maintaining our laboratory systems for these activities. Responsibilities Direct supervision of the laboratory team. Assure sustainability of our Laboratory Accreditation to ISO 17025, and manage lab per requirements set forth in ISO 17025. Manage physical testing and prototyping for textile products. Ensure maintenance and calibration of all lab equipment. Maintain on time and accurate reporting deliverables these may include, preproduction approval testing, product validation and all testing required for product commercialization. Manage compliance testing of products according to product specifications or customer requirements. Support functional teams with test data and analytical activities. Maintain culture of continuous improvement. Maintain compliance with Shawmut’s Product Phase Gate deliverables for lab management. Requirements Must have 4-year degree in Textiles, Material Science or related field. 3-5 years of laboratory supervision or related management experience in a laboratory environment. Demonstrate competency in statistical techniques and color/appearance measurement as applicable. Experience working in a laboratory setting. Experience working with IATF, ASTM, AATCC & ISO standards. Must have good level computer skills, Microsoft Office Applications, including Word and Excel. Must be detail-oriented. Must have good communication skills, both orally and in writing, to interface with all levels of the organization. Superior rating for Farnsworth Munsell 100 Hue test is a plus. Experience with formulating textile color is a plus.
