We are now seeking two Laboratory Metallurgical Technicians to join our Perth team, who is prepared to work within our values of: Courage; Ownership, Collaborate, Integrity; and Innovation.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Laboratory Technician at WASA, you will play a crucial role in the preparation and analysis of all samples submitted to the laboratory.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Accountable for performing timely and accurate chemical analysis of all samples
  • Liable for routine analytical equipment maintenance and calibration according to WASA procedures
  • Analyse the samples and calculate the necessary adjustments to ensure the heat meets customer requirements
  • Responsible for the housekeeping of the work area (6S)
  • Must provide technical assistance to the production department outside office hours
  • Must be able to work proactively to create, maintain and improve process and product safety by minimising cost of quality losses through scrap, re-work, and rejection of material
  • Be a key contributor to the culture of continuous improvement using lean manufacturing principals
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures including PCC Code of Conduct, Quality and Safety Cardinal Rules
  • Other duties within skills, knowledge and abilities as required by management

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year

To be successful in this role you must be able to demonstrate the following qualifications and attributes:

  • Advanced certification in Laboratory techniques, chemistry, metallurgy, or a related discipline
  • Minimum two years of laboratory experience is essential
  • Sound knowledge of XRF, OES, C/S analyser, O/N/H analyser.
  • Must be able to work on a rotating roster, as there will be 7 shifts per fortnight with day shift – 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM and night shift – 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM
  • Strong customer focus and excellent verbal & written communication skills
  • Willingness and ability to learn quickly with good problem-solving skill
