Job Description Why You’ll Love This Role As the Laboratory Operations Supervisor – Microbiology, you will lead second-shift lab operations, combining hands-on microbiology expertise with leadership of a skilled team. You’ll oversee environmental monitoring, ensure GMP compliance, and drive efficiency while fostering a culture of quality and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities Microbiology & Environmental Monitoring Lead environmental monitoring (EM) activities, including sampling of compressed gases, water systems, and cleanroom environments. Conduct microbial identification and testing of commercially prepared culture media. Maintain and analyze microbiology productivity databases; prepare monthly metrics and trend reports. Investigate microbiological deviations and prepare detailed reports. Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment. Review and verify microbiological data to ensure accuracy and compliance with quality standards. Utilize LIMS for sample tracking, test results, and reporting. Leadership & Operational Oversight Supervise and mentor microbiology analysts and group leaders, promoting a culture of quality and continuous learning. Manage onboarding, training, and development of new staff in EM and microbiology protocols. Coordinate scheduling, task allocation, and overtime for second-shift operations. Apply Lean principles to improve lab workflows and operational efficiency. Serve as a key liaison between internal teams and external clients, ensuring timely communication and project execution. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Life Sciences, or a related field. 3+ years of microbiology lab experience, including environmental monitoring in a GMP-regulated setting. 3+ years of experience leading technical or laboratory teams. Strong knowledge of microbiological testing, EM protocols, and lab compliance standards. Proven ability to coach staff, manage lab operations, and drive team performance. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without restriction or sponsorship.
