THE OPPORTUNITY:

Avantor is looking for a Laboratory Production Operative to join our innovative team! This role will be a full-time, afternoon position based out of our Hichrom site in Reading. You will have the opportunity to be part of an outstanding team that specialises in the field of chromatography. For over 30 years, our Reading site has been a market leader in the development, manufacture and supply of high-quality chromatography products, servicing both the UK and overseas markets.
This is an entry-level operative role, manufacturing High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) columns.
You will be covering various functions by completing a variety of support tasks in a laboratory environment. We are offering this role on a full time, permanent basis.

What we’re looking for?

  • GCSE in Maths & English and a curiosity about Science
  • Full training will be given, previous experience as a production operative in a laboratory or pharmaceutical/food manufacturing environment is desirable but not crucial
  • Previous experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to understand and follow Health & Safety instructions.
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure

How you’ll thrive and create an impact?

  • Working in a laboratory production environment, you will carry out manufacture of HPLC Columns to be used in Chromatography procedures.
  • Undertake process operations under the supervision of a senior associates, in accordance with all relevant production procedures and process instructions
  • Comply with company rules and health & safety.
  • Be responsible for keeping your working area clean, uncontaminated, and organised at all times
  • Perform basic routine maintenance and report any issues to the Line Manager to minimise instrument downtime.
