LABORATORY RESEARCH SPECIALIST – R&D

Our current cattle product platforms are injectable trace minerals and native rumen microbes produced through anaerobic fermentation. Axiota is the combination of two proven companies joining forces to serve the cattle industry.
Trace minerals are important for reproduction, immunity, and immune response to vaccines. MULTIMIN® USA is an innovator in sure trace mineral supply by timed injection and offers the proprietary injectable trace mineral solution MULTIMIN® 90, an injectable, aqueous supplemental source of zinc, copper, selenium, and manganese.
Rumen health and development are critical for growth and performance. MS Biotec® is a pioneer in anaerobic fermentation and rumen health. Our signature line of Lactipro® brand products deliver a patented strain of Megasphaera elsdenii, a potent lactic acid utilizer.

Role & Responsibilities

  • This laboratory research specialist position primarily works in our R&D laboratory and coordinates the adoption of these innovations into our production processes.
  • Perform general microbiological tasks, including glassware cleaning, instrument maintenance and media preparation following standard protocols. Conduct microbial cultivation using aseptic techniques and carry out bacterial enumeration using laboratory equipment.
  • Perform tasks requiring comprehension of written instructions and operation of analytical instruments to support studies on M. elsdenii.
  • Perform experiments according to the protocol given and following Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Identify potential out-of-specification measurement/result obtained during an experiment, inform the supervisor, and make appropriate adjustments.
  • Maintain accurate and current laboratory records for experiments and results; prepare a formal report summarizing key findings.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in response to shifting priorities, project needs, and deadlines in a dynamic research environment.
  • Maintain thorough and accurate records to ensure a complete audit trail of current and past R&D experiments.
  • Contribute to the maintenance and organization of the R&D laboratory, including general housekeeping and upkeep of laboratory materials and glassware.
  • Assist in the development of experimental design for R&D as needed.
  • Perform data processing and analysis, including entering data into Excel and creating summary tables/charts.
  • Assist in implementing R&D technologies into the production process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Molecular biology, or a related field with 3 years of laboratory experience or a Master’s degree in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Molecular biology, or a related field with at least 1 year of laboratory experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Physical ability to stand and walk up to 8 hours per day.
  • Ability to work with materials in anaerobic chambers
