You provide administrative and technical duties for sample login, sample tracking and client liaison for the Laboratory Services unit.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Completion of 2 year community college diploma in Laboratory Technology or related science Minimum of 2 years of related experience in a laboratory environment or similar field Completion of required health and safety trainingKNOWLEDGE City of Ottawa’s organizational structure and services Microsoft Office Cognos Impromptu, MOE EDWIS, LIMS, WaterTrax, WIES, Industrial Waste Interface  Quality Assurance/Quality Control principals and standards Health and Safety legislation COMPETENCIES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing Ability to read, interpret, understand and explain water distribution policies and procedures including municipal by-laws Strong data entry, retrieval and keyboard skills Organizational skills Ability to operate basic office and telecommunications equipment including fax machines photocopiers, computer, printer and email Ability to interact effectively with management, staff, and persons external to the Corporation Ability to exercise judgment in decision-making Punctual and reliable Excellent interpersonal skills Effective team player Self confident and assertive Exercise tact and diplomacy Flexible to accommodate changing priorities WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW Language Requirement: English oral, reading, writing        You may initially be paid 95% of your starting rate of pay, in accordance with the collective agreement.
