Overview Lab Shift Lead UnityPoint Health - Allen Shift: Full-time; 1100 AM -930 PM, 1230 PM -11 PM Benefits Eligible Potential sign on bonus for external new hires: $5,000 paid out over 1 year The Lab Shift Lead is a certified MLS, MT or MLT that functions as a lab generalist, working in all laboratory departments. They guide the work of the second and third shift technical staff, phlebotomists, and support staff within the laboratory. They have general understanding and training in all laboratory departments and help to guide patient lab testing, QC, lab safety and quality on the second and third shifts. Responsibilities Performs daily department area work including collecting, running and processing of laboratory specimens Serves as shift lead for technical and other lab staff support Liaison for laboratory shift work communication to lab Section Leads and Management Performs lab QC and maintenance Assists with lab inventory Trains new staff Provides customer service to providers and others Works with Supervisor-Technical to maintain safety items for Joint Commission, CAP and OSHA Assists with workflow reviews for second and third shifts Qualifications Education: Associate degree in lab science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution or Qualify as Testing Personnel under Federal Register Sec 493.1489 Licensure/Certification: MLT, CLA, MLS or MT-ASCP (non regulatory) Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons. Experience: 1 year laboratory technical experience Other: Must be able to read, write and speak English Must possess basic computer skills and knowledge using word processing, spreadsheet, email and web browser
