A Brief Overview
Supervises the day-to-day operations of the laboratory. Assists in selecting, training, evaluation and motivation of team members. Models the Stormont Vail Tenets of compassion, connection, patient safety and privacy, and improving the health of our community. Ensures high quality patient testing by directing the use of equipment and materials according to established policies, procedures, and laboratory standards.
Education Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree Medical (Clinical) Laboratory Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field. Preferred

Skills and Abilities
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs. (Required proficiency)Ability to follow directions accurately. (Required proficiency)
Licenses and Certifications
Medical Laboratory Scientist - ASCP Certification by AMT or NCA is also accepted. Required orSingle discipline technologist or specialist certification in Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, Molecular Biology, or Microbiology may be considered depending on the position.
What you will do
Builds a safety culture by following best practices for laboratory and patient safety. Ensures that team members utilize all safety equipment and follow all safety procedures outlined by the laboratory and hospital policies.Assists lab senior leadership with selection of test methodology appropriate for clinical use. Develops, writes and executes validation protocols, to include establishment of test performance characteristics.
