We currently have an opening for a Laboratory Supervisor, who will work closely with the Laboratory Manager to ensure safe and effective daily operation of the laboratory. Required key attributes include effective leadership and communication skills in order to motivate the team to perform at its best level and drive continuous improvement and reliability of our operations.

KNOWLEDGE / REQUIREMENTS

  • Advanced Laboratory Technician Diploma / BSc Chemistry or similar.
  • 5 years of relevant laboratory and supervisory experience.
  • ISO/IEC 17025 knowledge.
  • Willingness to become fluent in all testing and methods performed by the laboratory.
  • Inquisitive, hands-on approach, with excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective leadership and communication skills, and the ability to convey knowledge to others.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
Responsibilities

KEY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure focus on safety, quality and productivity is maintained by all laboratory staff.
  • Supervise, train and support laboratory technicians conducting oil analysis with ASTM methods.
  • Perform maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting and repair of all instrumentation and equipment.
  • Act as laboratory technical contact for customers, colleagues and auditors.
  • Draft and update laboratory work instructions.
  • Use of LIMS and other computer systems for entry / authorization of results.
  • Preparation of reagents and standards.
  • Ensure sufficient stock levels of laboratory consumables are maintained.
  • Coordinate the receipt and sorting of incoming samples.
  • Assist with routine analysis of oil samples as required.
  • Ensure ISO/IEC 17025 requirements are maintained.
  • Other duties as assigned.
