Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

White Rose Laboratory Services Ltd is looking for an experienced Laboratory Supervisor to support and lead day-to-day operations at our Castleford laboratory. This is a hands-on supervisory position for someone with a strong background in materials testing and team leadership. You will work closely with the management team and technical staff to ensure testing is completed accurately, efficiently, and in line with British Standards and ISO 17025 accreditation.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supervising technician workloads, maintaining high testing standards, and improving operational efficiency. A flexible, organised approach to scheduling and turnaround is essential, with the ability to respond to testing demands and ensure deadlines are met.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise a team of technicians, ensuring workloads are managed effectively and testing is delivered to a high standard
  • Work closely with the management team to ensure smooth day-to-day operation of the laboratory
  • Oversee scheduling and prioritisation of testing to meet project deadlines
  • Manage turnaround times by flexibly scheduling technician workloads and working hours to meet demand
  • Support the maintenance of quality systems and UKAS/ISO 17025 compliance
  • Carry out hands-on materials testing when required, across soils, aggregates, and concrete
  • Provide guidance, mentoring, and support to technicians and junior team members
  • Help drive improvements in procedures, productivity, safety, and laboratory housekeeping
  • Ensure test records, data sheets, and reports are completed accurately and in line with quality assurance procedures
  • Communicate with site teams and clients where required to support testing delivery
