This full-time evening role (Monday–Friday, 2:45 PM–11:15 PM, including every other weekend and holiday) supports our technical staff with essential tasks before specimen analysis. Take the next step in your healthcare career—apply today and make an impact with UPMC Memorial! Responsibilities: Receive, sort, label, and deliver specimens to designated work areas for analysis. Answer phone inquiries, track specimen status, and direct callers to appropriate resources. Perform basic instrument maintenance and record required data. Restock supplies and maintain organized storage areas. Prepare and replenish reagents and consumables to support lab testing. Execute QA/QC procedures according to established protocols. Store and retrieve specimens and slides for ongoing operations. Clean and decontaminate work areas, glassware, and safety equipment. Sort and safely dispose of laboratory waste. Transport specimens and deliver supplies as needed. High School diploma or equivalent, and at least 2 years' experience as a Specimen Processor (or equivalent) required in a clinical lab, OR associate degree (with biology and chemistry courses) and at least 1yr of experience as a Specimen Processor (or equivalent) in a clinical lab, OR Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant certification and 1yr of experience as a Specimen Processor (or equivalent) in a clinical lab, OR Successful completion of a 50wk U.S. military medical laboratory training course, OR B.S. degree from an accredited institution with a major in a biological or clinical laboratory science OR currently enrolled in an MLS (Medical Laboratory Scientist) or equivalent training program, with 3 yrs college credits required. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: Medical Laboratory Assistant MLA (ASCP) or equivalent certification preferred. Valid driver's license if one is departmentally required.
