Description Laboratory Technician General Job Purpose Responsible for processing and preparing samples for analysis and providing support to Advanced Pain Care's laboratory scientists. Duties include, but are not limited to the following functions: • Performs sample receiving and accessioning • Operation of a moderate complexity chemistry analyzer, including running calibrations, QC, and samples • Preparation of samples for analysis on high complexity instrumentation • Provides support to APC’s laboratory analysts in other tasks related to the daily operations of performing toxicological analysis on human biological specimens KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES • Maintains integrity and proven diligent work ethics to maintain the accuracy of specimen identification • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance, as well as collaboratively as part of a team • Displays ability to effectively communicate with others • Displays ability to meet timelines efficiently and productively • Displays good documentation habits • Solves problems through analytical thinking to identify and understand alternatives using knowledge gained through formal education, experience and sound judgment • Ability to develop expert knowledge of laboratory equipment and processes to enable making adjustments when necessary and to recognize when equipment malfunctions • Ability to successfully execute standard operating procedures and perform laboratory procedures using applicable equipment and techniques • Computer and analytical skills • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills • Dependable, self-starting, multi-tasking individual • Ability to follow detailed verbal and written instruction • Excellent interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills • Comfortable working in a fast paced constantly changing stressful environment Requirements QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in a biological or chemical science. SUPERVISION Reports to Lab Operations Manager WORKING CONDITIONS Environmental Conditions: Clinical Laboratory environment Physical Conditions: · Must be able to work as scheduled · Must be able to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods of time · Must be able to bend, stoop and stretch · Must be able to lift and move boxes and other items weighing up to 30 pounds. · Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate office equipment, etc.
