About the Role As a Laboratory Technician at ALS, you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our testing processes! We’re proud to be a leader in scientist testing. Our environmental laboratory in Smithfield has a full-time, permanent opportunity available. Your responsibilities will include conducting extractions in line with quality standards, identifying anomalies in samples, organizing tasks to optimize workflow, and ensuring deadlines are met. You will also calibrate and maintain equipment, manage laboratory consumables, maintain a clean and sterile workspace, and perform calculations as needed. This opportunity covers our Afternoon Shift from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM Monday to Friday. Key Responsibilities: Conduct extraction procedures and tasks per ALS Quality Work Instructions, ensuring QA/QC compliance. Organize tasks for daily efficiency and meet set timelines and standards. Report anomalies in results or samples to Supervisor. Maintain housekeeping, calibrate equipment, and perform calculations for analyses. Manage consumable stock and assist with additional duties. Use calibrated equipment and follow ALS quality procedures. Comply with ALS HSE policies, state OHS legislation, and safety manual. Ensure lab safety, report compliance issues, and promote safety culture. Requirements: Tertiary education (a degree or diploma preferred). Good communication and interpersonal skills. High level attention to detail. Good chemical knowledge. Ability to work autonomously or in a team. Ability to plan and organise work. Judgement and problem-solving skills. Positive attitude to safety requirements. Responsibilities
The Laboratory Technician will conduct extractions following quality standards, organize tasks for workflow efficiency, and report any anomalies found in samples or results to the Supervisor. Responsibilities also include calibrating equipment, managing consumables, maintaining a sterile workspace, and adhering to all safety policies.
