Join ALS Oil & Lubricants – Wellington, New Zealand ALS Oil & Lubricants in Lower Hutt is seeking a motivated Laboratory Technician to join our high-performing team. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in delivering accurate, high-quality results and thrives in a fast‑paced laboratory environment. About the Role Working within the Oil & Lubricants laboratory, you will be responsible for the analytical testing of oil, fuel, and coolant samples used in the condition monitoring of heavy mining equipment and machinery. You will play a key role in ensuring testing is completed accurately, safely, and within agreed turnaround times. Comprehensive training will be provided on all relevant instrumentation, systems, and procedures. Key Responsibilities Perform chemical and physical testing of oil, fuel, and coolant samples Apply a range of analytical tests using specialised laboratory instruments Accurately record sample and testing data into the LIMS system Ensure all work is completed in line with ALS Quality Work Instructions and QA/QC requirements Maintain awareness and compliance with laboratory safety policies Support the team to deliver quality results on time About You To be successful in this role, you will have: 1–2 years’ experience in an oils laboratory or production-based industry - desirable Tertiary or Polytechnic qualifications or accredited laboratory training (completed or currently studying) – desirable Strong work ethic and a team-focused mindset Excellent communication, organisation, and time management skills Ability to multitask and quickly develop new technical skills Sound computer literacy (training provided for internal systems) High attention to detail and commitment to quality Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast‑paced environment Benefits & Culture At ALS, our people are at the heart of our success.
