Description

Job Title: Laboratory Technician, Belfast
Reports to: Belfast management, Group Laboratory Manager & Group Laboratory Technical Manager.
Contacts – All internal and external customers

Function:

  • To assist the laboratory manager in all aspects of compliance with all relevant technical and quality standards in accordance with GLP (Good Laboratory Practice)
  • To perform routine microbiological analysis and the associated tasks in accordance with the relevant standards and published SOPs
  • Everyday office duties including answering phones, replying to customer emails and other forms of communication.
  • Collection/delivery of water samples, scopes and goods with travel to off-sites locations when required.

Qualifications: Educated to a degree level in a relevant subject or qualified within a scientific discipline.
Experience: Minimum 2 years of relevant experience working within an ISO17025 accredited microbiology laboratory.

Responsibilities:

  • Post holder must be able to work independently on their own initiative.
  • Ensure the correct documentation is in place for all samples received to facilitate accurate and timely processing.
  • Perform microbiological testing/chemical analysis using a variety of analytical techniques in accordance with the relevant standards and SOPs.
  • Produce and authorise customer reports in accordance with stipulated timelines and provide follow-up customer support where necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with all routine requirements of UKAS accreditation (e.g. media QC, sterility checks etc.)
  • Carry out goods received procedures.
  • Perform IQC according to the accredited IQC Procedure and EQA as required.
  • Ensure that all calibration, daily checks and maintenance are performed in line with company procedures and UKAS accreditation.
  • Assist with the preparation and actively participate in regulatory audits.

· Facilitate the day-to-day operation of the lab as well as specific test requirements in response to customer requirements.
UNSPECIFIED DUTIES: The post holder may be required from time to time to undertake such duties as the Company may require this includes traveling within the UK, abroad and including but not limited to attending trade shows and other off-site events.
Post holder must have the right to work in the UK/Ireland either under the EU settlement scheme or any other permanent work permit and hold a full clean driving license.
