As a Laboratory Technician Apprentice in our Bishop, TX plant, you will make an impact on the world with a fundamental focus on sustainability. As a Laboratory Technician Apprentice, you will be a part of a team which produces products that go into Ibuprofen – active pharmaceutical ingredient present in many name-brand and generic dosage forms (e.g. Advil, Brufen, Dolormin) and Nurofen and 4HAP –used as preservative in cosmetic products and an intermediate in drug manufacture (e.g. Albuterol & Atenolol), and more! Starting in 2026, you… If not already graduated you will continue your academic Environmental/Petrochemical Lab Technology AAS program at the Del Mar College while working and learning on site in our Bishop, TX site from some of the best in the business. During your time here we don't want you to sweat the small stuff so BASF will cover the entire cost of your educational program, including books! When you’re not studying you will have opportunities to… Work hands-on in our Bishop, TX QC laboratory learning to: Test raw materials, in-process samples, and final samples. Perform routine calculations and decisions for making process adjustments as required. Accurately record in RTPS and SAP and communicate the test results. Responsible for standardizations of all reagents used in the laboratory. Perform internal standard testing for maintenance & failure prevention of laboratory equipment and reagents. Be responsible for reporting unsafe laboratory equipment, behaviors, and conditions. Maintain supply of solvents and safe disposal of wastes. Communicate need to order reagents and supplies. Unpack and store reagents and supplies when received. Communicate with internal and external customers in the absence of the laboratory supervisor. Obtain and store retains. Dispose of in-process, raw material, and old retains as needed. Clean glassware and general housekeeping of the lab. Trouble shoot product being manufactured in the plant as needed. File raw material and product batch sheets. If you... Have a HS Diploma or GED. Can work in a plant environment and lift 50lbs. Possess the ability to stand extended amounts of time. Are able to work in hot or cold environments. Are able to work 8-hour shifts — including day or night shifts, weekends, and holidays — during the apprenticeship program. After completing the apprenticeship, you will be required to work 10-hour rotating shifts. Are willing to enroll/continue in or have already completed an Environmental/Petrochemical Lab Technology Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree or an equivalent academic program to begin your career in Manufacturing.
