Description:

DESCRIPTION

The purpose of the role is to efficiently and effectively assist in the quality assurance of quarrying and surfacing products. To conduct onsite and offsite materials testing and update electronic records.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERTISE

Educated to A-Level standard (or equivalent) preferred but not essential
Experience working within a similar role and/or within the construction industry preferred but not essential
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office suite including Excel
Experience of working with recognised accreditation standards, ie BS, ISO, NRA
Understand and have knowledge of all current UK and NRA (BS EN) standards, for aggregates, sub bases and coated materials
Knowledge of test procedures for aggregate, bituminous, unbound and earthworks materials
Experience of working in a team environment, providing information and support to colleagues
Ability to be flexible in working hours, working night shifts or weekends if required
Driving license to enable the post holder to fulfil the duties of the role

Responsibilities:

To test and sample aggregate, bituminous and unbound and earthworks materials including grading analysis, binder content and physical, chemical and mechanical testing in a safe and efficient manner, both in the laboratory and on contracting sites/plant.
To conduct daily organoleptic checks for lab, production facilities and all stockpiles
To maintain a safe and tidy workspace and ensure the efficient running of the laboratory
To maintain quality standards by following Company and accrediting bodies quality procedures and protocol.
To record sample details on test record sheets and laboratory software.
To calibrate all testing equipment.
To prepare for inspections from independent accrediting bodies
To undertake daily laboratory equipment checks
To investigate all material related complaints & provide suitable & sufficient feedback & evidence to support.
To provide technical cover for other contracts within UK & Ireland.
