SUMMARY:

AGAT Laboratories is currently looking for a Laboratory Technician to join our Tribology Lab. This position is an entry level position where one can gain career experience in a laboratory with direction from the Laboratory Supervisor and other Laboratory team members. The successful candidate will assist with administrative and basic laboratory activities. The successful candidate will work out of the Calgary location.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-secondary education with a Chemical degree/diploma or equivalent experience
  • Previous work lab experience is an asset, training will be provided
  • Experience in ICP, titrations, GC-MS an asset
  • Strong English communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Attention to detail with good organizational skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Team player with the ability to work in a positive manner in a fast paced environment
    Work Environment: This position requires a person to stand, sit and lift throughout the shift in a laboratory environment. Manual dexterity is required to perform repetitive tasks. PPE is required where applicable.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform basic laboratory procedures including preparation of samples, reagents and calibration solutions.
  • Provide general lab support including washing glassware, cleaning work stations and waste disposal.
  • Operate instruments, with guidance from senior staff perform maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting.
  • Perform basic analysis.
  • Report results.
  • Other duties as assigned.
