Nut Producers Australia (NPA) is an almond and pistachio processing and marketing business with a charter to maximise returns to growers and has an annual turnover more than $100 million. The business is a collective of three companies: NPA, the Marketing and Administration company based in Adelaide, Riverland Almonds in Loxton and Australian Pioneer Pistachio Company, based in Robinvale, Vic. As a separate and complementary channel, NPA also carries on the business of product trading to add to the growth of the business.
About the Company
Operating since 1986, Riverland Almonds is a Riverland (regional S.A.) based almond processing, packing and export business located in Loxton.
The Role
In this role you will conduct a range of diagnostic testing that requires the applications of technical knowledge and skills, within the Laboratory. This position involves working in a fast paced environment and will be suitable for an individual who prides themselves on the level of accuracy in their work and has a strong customer focus. You will work as part of an experienced and dedicated team with exposure to a wide diversity of work.
The laboratory operates Monday to Friday and testing is heavily focused over the March-August harvest period. During this period there may be some requirement for flexible working programs, with the potential for flexible working arrangements outside the harvest period to suit individual requirements.
Recent graduates are encouraged to consider this opportunity in a role that is anticipated to expand and provide motivating challenges across the business units.

Skills & experience

  • Food Science or related qualification.
  • Exposure to, and understanding of, laboratory environments and operations.
  • Strong understanding of food microbiological principles and applications.
  • Excellent communication skills, and fluent in English both written and verbal.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word/Excel.

To be considered for the role you will need to possess the following:

  • Bachelor of Applied Science or related qualification.
  • Demonstrable experience working within a laboratory environment.
  • Experience in, or sound knowledge of, Microbiology
  • Understanding of the Food Standards Code.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • High attention to detail and experience working in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team environment
  • A desire and willingness to live in a regional area
  • A current valid driver’s license.
  • Australian citizenship or valid work visa.
