Job Description Are you looking to gain hands-on experience in an environmental laboratory? We’re seeking a motivated and reliable Laboratory Technician to join our team on a casual basis at our Perth Airport facility. This role plays an important part in maintaining our capability to analyse soil, water, and air, delivering accurate and timely laboratory results that support environmental monitoring and compliance. What You’ll Be Doing As part of our laboratory team, your key responsibilities will include: Performing routine preparation and analysis of soil and water samples Maintaining cleanliness of laboratory workspaces and equipment to prevent contamination Assisting with data validation for technical reports (where trained as a validator) Conducting scheduled instrument calibration and maintenance according to procedures Supporting sample receipt, unpacking, and registration processes Assisting with appropriate storage and disposal of samples Following laboratory QA/QC procedures and supporting NATA accreditation requirements Using PPE correctly and promoting a strong safety culture Reporting any unsafe conditions or faulty equipment immediately Maintaining and developing skills through ongoing training and professional development Qualifications About You We’re looking for someone who is detail-oriented, safety-focused, and eager to learn. Ideally, you will have: A TAFE or tertiary qualification in Science or Chemistry Previous experience working within a laboratory environment. Exposure to environmental testing (soil, water, or air) – highly regarded Understanding of QA/QC processes and laboratory accreditation standards (e.g., NATA) Flexibility to work varying shifts between 7am and 9pm If you’re ready to build your laboratory career in a hands-on environmental role, we’d love to hear from you.
