The Department of Pathology is seeking a Laboratory Technician IV to, under general supervision, direct the operation of difficult and complex technical duties related to specimen collection/phlebotomy, specimen processing, phlebotomy, waived testing, completion of required computer/clerical duties, telephone inquiries, routine laboratory maintenance and maintenance/management of laboratory supplies. This position will provide functional and administrative supervision over assigned staff. This position is 100%25-time, Monday-Friday from 0700-1530, with occasional extension of shift and rotating coverage for absences. Duties to include: · Directs and performs the pre-analytical processes including data entry, labeling, specimen receipt, accessioning, and processing of specimens. · Serves as the technical subject matter expert for inquiries requiring advanced knowledge of specimen collection techniques and laboratory protocols. · Reviews variance and Riskonnect reports, initiates responses, and relays information to appropriate quality manager and/or supervisor. · Performs bench duties regularly and maintains technical competency in Phlebotomy and in all waived testing and other laboratory related functions at Northgate Family Medicine. · Provides direct supervision of assigned personnel. To learn more: https://medicine.uiowa.edu/pathology/about-us Minimum Eligibility Requirements: · Five years of laboratory experience including one year of Laboratory Technician III or equivalent level experience, or · Certification as a Certified Laboratory Assistant (CLA) and three years Laboratory experience (one year at LTIII or equivalent level), or · Any combination of related post high school education and experience which totals five years, or · Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician and one year related laboratory experience. Desirable Qualifications: · Clinical Laboratory experience desired. · Experience performing waived testing highly desired. · Experience performing phlebotomy highly desired. · Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills desired. · Demonstrated proficiency with EPIC Beaker Laboratory Information System desired. · Experience providing functional supervision desired. · High volume public contact/customer service experience desired.
