Job Description Our East Syracuse, NY laboratory is looking for entry-level Laboratory Technicians to join their XRD team! The Laboratory Technician will prepare samples with accuracy and precision in accordance to SGS' analytical SOPs. The Laboratory Technician works independently and as part of a team to meet daily production targets and ensure hold times and turnaround times are met. The Laboratory Technician ensures best quality through adherence to all policies, procedures, and quality verifications. The Laboratory Technician I always follows safe laboratory practices and maintains a safe working environment. Job Functions After appropriate training, independently prepares samples for analysis according to SGS’ SOPs, using basic instrumentation specific to the department and analytical methodologies. Performs routine operation, maintenance, calibration of preparation instruments/equipment. May assist with validation and MDL studies. Inputs and maintains technical information, as needed, to support the laboratory functions/operations. May conduct non-interpretive sample analysis and draft analytical reports. Maintains Laboratory Notebook where applicable. Adheres to internal standards, policies, and procedures. Performs all required quality verifications, ensuring best quality. Monitors inventory levels of chemicals and consumables, ensuring appropriate levels, at all times. Ensures all chemicals are labelled appropriately, required personal protective equipment is worn consistently, and all safety precautions are followed. Performs other duties as required. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent and prior general working experience (Required) Associates Degree in a Chemistry or similar scientific discipline and 1-2 years of relevant laboratory experience (Preferred) Proficient English language skills (Required) Basic mathematical and reasoning skills (Required) Basic computer skills (Required) Ability to lift/carry/push and/or pull upwards of 25 lbs on a frequent basis (Required) This position pays $20-21/hr (dependent on experience) and is eligible for overtime.
