Description

Vancouver biotechnology laboratory has an opening for a motivated and organized Laboratory Technologist to join our growing team. The successful candidate is seeking a long-term career in the biomedical industry, has strong attention to detail, and has excellent time management skills. This position has a strong potential for growth and advancement within the Company.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in a discipline such biology or biochemical and microbiology;
  • Proficient with basic molecular biology techniques including DNA and RNA extraction from blood and tissue, PCR and sequencing;
  • Prior experience with multiplex PCR primer design, use of NGS systems and experience with SNP chip use analysis and/or design an asset;
  • Prior experience in a biomedical laboratory is an asset.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare equipment, reagents, and supplies for laboratory use;
  • Process critical patient specimens;
  • Perform diagnostic testing on patient samples;
  • Performing DNA and RNA extraction;
  • Perform PCR, SNP and sequencing operations;
  • Carry out laboratory techniques following standard operating procedures;
  • Perform required data analysis supporting development and testing;
  • Enter patient information into the database and maintain proper laboratory records;
  • Explaining DNA testing results to patients;
  • Assist in general maintenance of common equipment and overall cleanliness of the laboratory;
  • Other duties, as required.
