Description

We are seeking an experienced and innovative leader to manage all aspects of our Technology Center, including Research and Development (R&D), Advanced Laboratory Analysis, and Technical Outreach. This individual will drive scientific advancements in bioprocess technologies, mentor technical teams, and collaborate cross-functionally to support product innovation and commercialization.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biochemical Engineering, or related scientific field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a leadership or managerial role within an R&D, lab, or technology environment.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional scientific teams and drive technical innovation.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and digital communication skills; able to clearly present technical content to diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite; advanced knowledge of statistical and data modeling software (especially JMP or equivalent).
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to balance multiple high-priority initiatives simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated technical expertise in fermentation science, enzymology, bioprocess optimization, or related disciplines.
  • Resilient and composed under pressure; adaptable to changing work environments and team dynamics.
  • Commitment to inclusion, collaboration, and professional excellence.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.
  • Comfortable working in a laboratory environment and complying with safety protocols and PPE requirements.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Oversee daily operations and strategic direction of the Technology Center, including R&D projects, lab testing, and customer-facing technical initiatives.
  • Lead scientific research efforts to enhance the company’s portfolio of bioprocess solutions.
  • Clearly communicate the technical and commercial value of product innovations to internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Mentor and develop Technology Center staff, fostering a culture of scientific excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain and enhance internal product knowledge systems and documentation for use across departments.
  • Partner with internal departments and external subject matter experts to solve complex bioprocess challenges and integrate emerging technologies from lab to industrial scale.
  • Represent the Technology Center at industry conferences, technical workshops, and customer meetings through technical presentations and thought leadership.
  • Facilitate internal training sessions, technical reviews, and industry outreach, translating complex scientific information for a variety of audiences.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve high-level technical issues in fermentation, enzyme activity, and process optimization.
  • Use advanced data analytics tools (e.g., JMP, scientific software) to model experimental outcomes and support data-driven innovation.
  • Support the Stage-Gate process for product development, ensuring on-time delivery and successful commercialization of new technologies.
  • Coordinate and optimize lab schedules, resources, and project timelines for maximum productivity and safety.
  • Develop and enforce SOPs for lab procedures and ensure high-quality data generation and reporting standards.
  • Design and deliver internal and customer-facing technical training programs, including roundtable discussions and workshops.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, health, and environmental regulations within the lab environment.
  • Protect the confidentiality of intellectual property, proprietary information, and project data.
